ADRIAN, Mich. – The Davenport D3 hockey team started their 2014-15 campaign with an 8-0 setback against Adrian College – Black. DU goaltender Kelton Maskell made 71 saves on 79 shots in the game in his first start of the season. Davenport will complete their first weekend series of the season on Saturday as they host Adrian – Black at Patterson Ice Center at 5:20 p.m.
 
The Davenport D3 hockey team started their season with a very young roster, with 12 out of 17 players being freshman and making their collegiate debut. However, Adrian was able to take control of the game. The Bulldogs scored eight goals in the game.
 
The Adrian offense kept pressure on Davenport the entire game as the Bulldogs rifled 79 shots on freshman net minder Kelton Maskell. Maskell made 71 saves in his collegiate debut for the Panthers to record a .899 save percentage in the game.
 
After the game head coach Jeremy Bultema talked about his team performance to start the season, "We started the game with 12 freshman that never played a game in the ACHA. Every period we played better and we have a lot we can build off of. Kelton Maskell turned away 71 of 79 shots and played amazing."
 
The Panthers will be back on ice at Patterson Ice Center on Saturday to conclude a home-and-home with Adrian – Black at 5:20 p.m.
