Alma, Mich. – The Davenport Wrestling team took on Alma College Thursday night in their second head-to-head contest of their inaugural season, but were unable to come away with the victory as they fell to the Scots 30-12. The Panthers will be back in action this Saturday, as they will compete in the Olivet Comet Duals, with the first matches set to begin at 10 a.m.
Â
The Panthers found themselves up early
Zack Yates,
Connor Hughes, and
Blake Russo all won their bouts consecutively, putting the Panthers up 9-3 after the first four matches. Eventually though, the Scots would take four matches by forfeit, and built a comfortable lead without looking back.
Glenn Geurink was able to walk away with a victory of his own, but it was not enough as the Panthers fell to the Scots 30-12.
Â
The Panthers will turn their gears toward the Comet Duals this Saturday, hosted by Olivet College. The first match is slated to start at 10 a.m. at the Cutler Event Center.
