GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After playing just one game in the last four weeks, the Davenport D3 hockey team will be back on the ice this weekend with a home-and-home series against local rival Calvin College. The Panthers are 0-8-0-0 on the season and will be looking for their first win of the season in the weekend series against the Knights. The home-and-home series will begin on Friday night in Grand Rapids at Calvin, before both teams wrap up the weekend series at Patterson Ice Center on Saturday night at 8:20 p.m.

The Knights enter the weekend with a record of 13-2-1-0 on the season, and in the there last weekend series against Indiana Tech, the Knights were able to sweep the Warriors by a combined score of 8-4. Calvin has a potent offensive attack this season with three players scoring more than 30 points this season, as Jordan Duncan leads the way with 18 goals and 39 points so far this season. The Knights have had three net minders appear in at least three game this season to compile the 13-2-1-0 record to go along with 2.36 goals against average and a .908 save percentage.

The PanthersÂ
Davenport has struggled on the offensive end of the ice scoring just six goals this season; with
Cody Olsen and
Justice Postman have two goals apiece. Olsen also leads the team in point with three on the year, and
Josh Riemersma is the only Panther with multiple assists this season. Last time out for the Panthers, Davenport faced Adrian-Gold and after allowing seven goals in the first period, DU held the Bulldogs to just one goal in the second and shutout Adrian in the third period.

The Panthers will be back in action this weekend with a home-and-home series against crosstown rival Calvin College starting on Friday at 8:30 before both teams closeout the weekend series on Saturday at Patterson Ice Center at 8:20 p.m.
