CLERMONT, Fla. –
Emily Maves joined the Davenport record books on the mound while her teammates crushed numerous single game marks as the pair led the Panthers to a perfect 2-0 day in Clermont, Fla.
Alyssa Eastman got her first win of the season in the second game as the Panthers improve to 4-0 on the year. DU will face Capital University and University of Tampa on Tuesday.
Game 1 – Davenport 20, Lyndon State 0 (5)
Emily Maves threw the ninth no-hitter in school history as she led the Lady Panthers to a romp over Lyndon State 20-0 in the opening game of day two. Davenport set or tied four different school records on offense as they put more than enough runs to back Maves on the mound.
The scoring started in the first with seven runs and DU added four more in the second and nine in the third to complete their second mercy rule game in as many days. Maves finished the game going all five innings while striking out nine batters and walking just one. The win improved the freshman's record to 2-0 on the young season.
KC Dunne had the lone homerun for the Panthers as six different players connected on doubles which tied a school record.
Lindsay Tasma,
Haley Obetts and
Carli SanMillan each finished with three hits on the game as DU broke school records for runs (20), hits (24) and RBI (19).
Game 2 – Davenport 12, Hanover 0 (5)
Alyssa Eastman continued the outstanding pitching thus far for the Panthers as the freshman threw a 1-hit complete game shutout and the lone hit was given up with two outs in the fifth. Eastman finished with four strikeouts for her first win in college.
At the dish, the Davenport offense exploded once again, scoring nine runs in the first and they added three more in the second to lead 12-0.
Amber Getty went 3-3 while
