LAKELAND, Fla. – After barely getting a nine-turned-seven inning game one in a downpour Wednesday evening, the Davenport baseball team returned to the campus of Southeastern two make up the back end of a doubleheader Thursday before heading to Babson Park to take on Webber International at 7 p.m. Trailing the Fire 2-0 after four innings, the Panthers began a rally that saw two runs scored in the fifth and a tie-breaking single in the seventh to win game two 3-2.
 
Davenport's (6-3) comeback in the seventh started with Cody Greear reaching on a one-out walk. Eric Cummings moved Greear to third with a double down the right field line and Connor Seymour brought in the go-ahead run with a single to left. Cummings tried to score the insurance run but the throw to home was in time.
 
Blake Dahlstrom got the starting nod from head coach Kevin Tidey, going 4 1/3 innings allowing both runs, one earned, on four hits and a pair of walks. Ryan Butzer (2-1) went the rest of the way firing 2 2/3 shutout innings striking out two and scattering a hit.
 
Southeastern (8-6) got on the board in the first inning with a walk and a pair of base hits. The Fire took a 2-0 lead in the third inning using a couple of defensive mistakes by Davenport such as a hit-by-pitch and an error.
 
Seymour had two of the Panthers six-hit afternoon.
