CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Davenport D3 hockey team posted a big 10-2 victory over University of Mississippi which gave them their second win of the ACHA National Tournament. Donald Sund led the offense in points with a hat-trick and two assists on the day and defense held strong to improve to 2-0 in Pool B. Thursday will see the Panthers take on the top seed in their pool, California (Pa.) with a berth in the national semifinals on the line. Puck drop is set for 4:30 in Florida.

Davenport and Ole Miss battled in period one to gain control over this game and Donald Sund scored his first goal of the day with two minutes remaining in the period to give the Panthers the 1-0 lead going into the break.

Branden Burton fed Jake Otto a pass 22 seconds into the second which ignited Davenport's scoring spree. Jordan Steger scored again two minutes later to give the Panthers the 3-0 lead but Ole Miss responded seconds later to bring them back into the game.

Zachary Feher scored three minutes later to halt the Rebels momentum and then Sund scored two straight to complete a hat-trick and give DU a commanding 6-1 lead with 8:14 left in the period. By the time period two was over, Feher, Garret Garber, and Burton all would have another goal to put the Panthers in the lead 9-1 going into the third.

Ole Miss was able to capitalize on a goal with eight minutes left in the third but it wasn't enough. The Panthers were able to capture one last goal with just over three minutes remaining to seal their 10-2 victory over Mississippi.

Davenport will resume play in Pool B on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. EST against the top-seed, California (Pa.). A win would send the Panthers into the national semifinals on Friday for the third straight year.
