Scouting Union University
The Bulldogs are a member of the Gulf South Conference (GSC) of NCAA DII and are in their final year of transition into that conference after making the jump from the NAIA.  Head coach Heather Hall and her team won the USCAA National Championship last season as they were in their second of three years of transition into the NCAA. The Bulldogs are off to an 11-11 start to the season but they have lost their last five games entering the weekend doubleheader with the Panthers. Shelby Lamb leads the team with a .415 batting average while Reagan Schrader and Sarah Kreuter are both above the .300 mark. In the circle, Union is led by Kelly Robey with a 7-8 record and 2.64 ERA.

Location: Portsmouth, Ohio

Looking at Shawnee State (Ohio).
Davenport and Shawnee meet for just the second time in school history as the team's split a DH last season. The Bears, under veteran head coach Ralph Cole, are a member of the Mid-South Conference in the NAIA and are currently 5-5 on the year with games against Asbury (Ky.) and Rio Grande (Ohio) still to play this week before Davenport. Shawnee State has been led so far on offense by Abbey Barrett who is batting .368 on the season and Kristi Yates at .350. They are the only two hitters above the .300 mark as the Bears have been outscored this season 36-29. In the circle, coach Cole has Miranda Pauley as his ace with a 2-1 record and 3.39 ERA.
