GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport baseball team extended its win streak to seven after picking up a doubleheader victory over Purdue North Central Tuesday afternoon at the Farmers Athletic Complex. Davenport used tallied 14 hits and took advantage of four Purdue North Central errors to clinch game one 14-6 while in Eric Cummings knocked in the winning run with a single to take game two 4-3 in 10 innings. Due to possible poor weather conditions Wednesday, DU and Rochester College have agreed to move their doubleheader to Thursday at 1 p.m.
 
Connor Seymour, Cam Cooper and Eric Cummings each recorded four hits on the day to lead the Panthers (14-7) offense. Cooper and Cummings also had the Panthers only extra base hits, each having stretched for a double. In addition, Cummings drove in five runs.
 
Game 1 – Davenport 14, Purdue North Central 6
After starter escaped from an early threat in the first inning, Davenport quickly went to work on PUNC starter Donovan Rigel (0-2). Seymour and Zylstra quickly moved into scoring position with two consecutive singles. A passed ball brought in the first run of the game and Zac Wilson's single up the middle scored in Zylstra. After Cody Greear earned a pass to first to load the bases, EJ Grochowalski hit an RBI single and Cummings was hit by the pitch and Seymour drew a walk to give Davenport a 5-0 lead.
 
Davenport put the game out of Purdue North Central's (6-11) reach in the second inning. Wilson led off with a walk and two passed balls moved him to third. Brenden Bender (1-1), who was given double duties again as the starting pitcher and hitter, sent a pitch to left deep enough for Wilson to score. After two errors by PUNC and a walk loaded the bases with one out, Cooper cleared the bases with a double down the left field line and Seymour brought in Davenport's 11th run in with a single.
 
Bender allowed two runs on a walk and five hits in 2 1/3 innings of work, Jonathan Cheshire surrendered three runs in 1 1/3 in relief and Alex Schuiling went the rest of the way conceding one run on a hit and a walk.
 
Game 2 – Davenport 4, Purdue North Central 3 (10 innings)
Both teams' starting pitcers tossed two quiet innings until Davenport broke though in the third. Cooper led off with a single and stole second, Seymour was hit by the pitch and an error by Purdue North Central allowed both runners to score. Davenport took a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning when Greear's two-out single brought home Wilson.
 
Blake Dahlstrom threw 5 1/3 innings allowing one run in the sixth. Ryan Butzer (2-1) failed to hold on to the lead as Purdue North Central tied the game in the seventh.
 
Both teams went scoreless until the home half of the 10th. Nolan Wilson reached on a fielder's choice with two out, stole second and scored on Cummings single up the middle.
