GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport opened their home and league schedule on Saturday and used a combined 21 hits and 21 runs to down visiting Indiana Tech by the scores of 12-1 (5) and 9-6. The two victories lift the Panthers to 16-4 on the season while they are 2-0 in WHAC play and they will continue action on Sunday at home against Lourdes University at 1 p.m.

Game 1 – Davenport 12, Indiana Tech 1 (5)

Indiana Tech got on the board in the top of the first but it would be their only lead of the game as DU came back with a single run in the bottom half and followed with two in the second, five in the third and four in the fourth.

Highlighting the scoring output for the Panthers was a grand slam from Amber Getty in the third inning that scored Haley Obetts, Carli SanMillan and Debra Burton. The home run barrage would continue in the next inning when Haley Obetts connected on her first career long ball to put the Panthers up 12-1.

Emily Maves picked up season win number eight as the freshman finished the five innings while one unearned run on two hits while striking out five.

Game 2 – Davenport 9, Indiana Tech 6

The two teams combined for 15 runs on 21 hits while committing seven errors but it was the host Panthers who came away with a 9-6 win. Alyssa Eastman got the win in the circle as the freshman finished the game with three strikeouts while giving up 11 hits. Eastman is now 6-1 on the season.

Davenport put up the first runs of the game when Carli SanMillan singled home Debra Burton and then she was brought home on a Warriors error. Indiana Tech then used six hits in the next frame including a three-run homer to take a 5-2 lead.

The lead would be short-lived though as the Panthers brought across four runs in the bottom half of the third highlighted by a 2-RBUI double from Burton and an RBI triple from KC Dunne.

DU then tacked on three insurance runs in the sixth inning on an RBI single from Alyssa Eastman and RBI double from KC Dunne.

On the day, Karli Myers and KC Dunne led the offense with four hits while Alyssa Eastman, Debra Burton and Carli SanMillan had three each.

Davenport will continue their home stand on Sunday when they welcome in Lourdes University for a 1 p.m. doubleheader. Both games will air live on the Davenport Athletics Network (DAN).

Post-Game Notes
KC Dunne now holds the career record for triples as she has 10 which passes the nine set by Heather Brusokas in 2010-11…Davenport has seven homeruns in their last six games overall…The Panthers improve their record in WHAC openers to 5-1 and have the same mark in WHAC Home Openers…
