DU Baseball A Quick Look at the SaintsLike many schools around the WHAC, Mother Nature has not been nice to the Saints this season as they have only played four games in the last two weeks. After splitting with Cornerstone on March 18, Aquinas has either cancelled or postponed six games. The Saints did manage to get two games in at Siena Heights Sunday, taking game one 13-10 in 10 innings but losing the nightcap 4-3.
The Last Time vs. AquinasDavenport and Aquinas were only able to meet three times last season as poor weather conditions called off two games while the third was played during the WHAC Tournament. The Saints had the honor of being the first guest to play at the Farmers Athletic Complex last season. The Saints spoiled the christening by taking game one 6-1 but the Panthers regrouped to take game two 10-4. The two Beltline rivals met one more time in the conference tournament held at the Panthers ballpark. The Saints held the Panthers to four hits while scoring four runs in the fifth to runaway with a 5-1 win to advance.
A Quick Look at Indiana TechThe reigning WHAC Tournament champion Warriors have yet to open their home slate this season. Most recently, the Warriors are currently on a four-game win streak, sweeping doubleheaders against Lourdes and Concordia. Reigning WHAC Player of the Week Justin Kalusa has been dominating pitchers at the plate this season, hitting .438 with seven two-baggers, four triples and a homer. He carries a .663 slugging percentage and has driven in 22 RBI.
The Last Time vs. Indiana TechThe Panthers and Warriors met five straight times toward the end of the season. Although the Panther swept the four-game set 6-0, 3-0, 1-0, 6-4 in Fort Wayne, the Warriors did put a major dent in the Panthers hopes of a WHAC Tournament crown by taking the opener 8-7 on a walk-off homer. Despite hitting .222 against the Warriors last season,
EJ Grochowalski blasted two home runs and driven in five RBI.
