GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The mercy rule wins keep coming for the Davenport Softball team as they posted two more on Sunday to sweep visiting Siena Heights University. DU took game one 10-2 in six innings while they posted the same score in the second, but in five innings. The four mercy run victories give Davenport seven in their 12 WHAC contests as they improve to 26-6 on the season and 11-1 in league action. The Panthers head to Cornerstone on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.
 
Game 1 – Davenport 10, Siena Heights 2 (6)
 
Davenport got off to another fast start today as they scored four runs in the bottom of the first and followed with two in the fourth and four in the sixth to open the day with a 10-1 win. Emily Maves improves to 13-2 in the circle as the freshman finished with two hits allowed, two earned runs and nine strikeouts.

KC Dunne continued her outstanding season as the junior got the scoring started in the first when she singled home Karli Myers and Amber Getty to give DU a 2-0 lead. The Panthers also got RBI from Ashleigh Blovsky and Debra Burton to lead 4-0 after one.

After getting two in the fourth, the tear continued for Karli Myers as the junior hit a 2-run homerun scoring Amber Getty and then DU finished off the Saints on an RBI groundout from Lauren Groendyk and an RBI-double from Paige Sant'Angelo.
 
Game 2 – Davenport 10, Siena Heights 2 (5)
 
Siena Heights came out fast in the nightcap as they posted a pair of runs to match their total from the opening game and led the Panthers after one inning of play 2-0. The runs then came quick and often for DU in the second as Alyssa Eastman hit a solo homerun to open the scoring and it was followed by a grand slam from senior Amber Getty to up the lead to 5-2.

The runs kept coming in the fourth when DU got an RBI from Karli Myers and Ashleigh Blovsky and one more unearned run to lead 9-2 and the game was finished in the fifth on an RBI single from Haley Obetts.

Alyssa Eastman got the win in the circle, improving her record to 11-2 on the season as the freshman finished with seven hits allowed and a pair of strikeouts.
Davenport will look to keep their momentum when they head across town on Wednesday to face Cornerstone University in a doubleheader at 3:30 p.m.
