GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – KC Dunne made sure she sent out the seniors winners in their final regular season home series as the junior finished the day 5-7 with seven RBI to lead the No. 22 ranked softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Northwestern Ohio. Davenport took the opening game 8-0 in five innings and followed it with an 8-3 triumph in the nightcap. DU is now 29-7 overall and 14-2 in league play as they will conclude their regular season next Saturday at Concordia University.

Game 1 – Davenport 8, UNOH 0 (5)

The Panthers picked up their eighth mercy-rule win in conference play with an 8-0 win over league newcomer Northwestern Ohio. DU wasted little time in getting on the board as Amber Getty led off the game with a triple to take the career lead in that category. After she was brought home on a wild pitch, Alyssa Eastman tripled home Ashleigh Blovsky to put DU up 2-0.

The scoring continued in the second when Getty and Karli Myers each picked up an RBI and KC Dunne followed with a 2-RBI double to score each of them. The junior shortstop then connected on another 2-run double in the third, scoring Katie Creighton and Bri Elliot to finish the scoring for the Panthers.

Emily Maves got the win in the circle as the freshman allowed just one bloop single while striking out four and walking one. The win improves her record to 14-3 on the season.

Game 2 – Davenport 8, UNOH 3

The Racers got more hits in their first two batters than they did in the entire previous game and eventually brought home two in the top of the first but it would not be nearly enough to take a split from DU as the Panthers put up runs in four of their six at-bats.

DU starter, Alyssa Eastman, went the distance in the circle while allowing seven hits, three walks and she finished with four strikeouts to improve to 13-2 on the year.

KC Dunne moved into a tie with Amber Getty on the all-time triples list as the junior brought in a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to help DU eventually take a 3-2 lead. Paige Sant'Angelo also picked up an RBI in the inning.

Sant'Angelo would get another RBI in the third and Alyssa Eastman a 2-run double to put the Panthers up 6-2. After the Racers cut the lead in half in the fourth, DU finished the night with an RBI single from Dunne and RBI double from Debra Burton to finalize the scoring at 8-3.
