D3 Hockey Returns to Action on the Road against Central Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport D3 hockey team will return to action this weekend against Central Michigan, after being off since December 13th when they face Aquinas. The Panthers open their 2015 portion of their season as they look for the first win of the season against Central Michigan. Davenport will start 2015 with three straight road games. The road series will start on Friday at 8 p.m. in Mount Pleasant, Mich., before the team conclude the weekend on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

Scouting Central Michigan
 
The Chippewas are 10-7-2 on the season, and was able to sweep Adrian-Black last weekend by the scores of 4-3 and 4-2 in the home-and-home series. Leading the way for the Chippewa offense is Taylor Atchley and Cal Jesko as they each have 20 points on the season, while Atchley leads the team in goals with 14 and Jesko leads with way with 15 assists. In goal, three different players have made at least four appearances in net, but Zachary Lietz has played in the majority of the games to put together a 3.07 goals against average and a .908 save percentage to lead the goaltending core.
 
The Panthers
 
Davenport is still in search of their first win of the season as they closed out 2014 with a 0-12-0 record. In the first semester, Cody Olsen was the leading score for Davenport with two goals and one assist, while Justice Postman was the only Panther to score more than one goal for the team before the break. Josh Riemersma leads the team with two assists and is the only player on the team to tally multiple assists. Kelton Maskell has played the majority of time in net posting a .830 save percentage, while making 494 saves for the Panthers.
 
The Panthers will hit the ice for the first time in over a month as they travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich., to face Central Michigan in a pair of games on the road.
