Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport D3 hockey team was unable to grab their first win of the season as Hope College was able to score five goals in the third period to beat the Panthers 11-0. Davenport is now 0-16-0-0 on the season. The Panthers will be off next weekend before they finish their 2014-15 season with a home-and-home series with Michigan State next week.
 
Hope continued were they left in the first game against Davenport as they scored five goals in the first period, and Davenport had a few scoring chances in the period, but the Panthers were able to get on the board as they trailed 5-0 after the first period.
 
In the second period, the Davenport defense was able to play tighter defense as they allowed the Flying Dutchmen to score just three goals, and the Panthers killed off a five minute major penalty, but they trailed 8-0 heading into the third period.
 
The physicality of the game picked up in the third period, and Davenport had a few scoring chances, but they could find the back of the net as Hope was able to score three more goals in the third period to win the game 11-0 and complete the weekend sweep.
 
The Panthers will be back in action in next week as they close out their season with a home-and-home series with Michigan State.
