Box Score 2 The Davenport men's Division III hockey team dropped a pair of games against Grand Valley State over the weekend by scores of 8-1 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday. The Lakers scored the first eight goals at Georgetown Ice Arena on Friday night with two in the first and six more in the second. The Panthers scored at 13:49 of the second period on the power play as
Jordan Crawford tucked in past the goal line with an assist from
Nick Scott. The Lakers had 62 shots on goal against two DU goaltenders.
The Panthers and Lakers had a much closer contest on Saturday as the teams went into the third period tied at 2-2. The teams traded goals in the first two periods.
Cam Morris answered a GVSU goal at 9:39 of the second period with assists from
Alex Gilbert and
Justin Crawford. After GVSU took a 2-1 lead, DU's
Hunter Ellens scored short-handed with assists from
Jacob Blok and
Parker Schmitt.
The Lakers scored the final two goals in the third period including an insurance goal via the power play at the 4:23 mark of the last period. The Lakers held a 59-16 advantage in shots on goal.
Jacob Mofield made 55 saves in a valiant effort.
