Box Score ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Davenport men's Division III hockey squad snapped a 20-game skid dating back to the final game of the 2013-2014 season with a 5-4 road win at Michigan improving to 1-1 this season. The Panthers claimed their first win under head coach
Jeremy Bultema and have shown a much-improved offense through two games this season. DU scored four goals in the opener against Central Michigan and with five more tonight are just three shy of last year's total of 12 goals in 18 games.
There were no special team goals during the contest as even strength belonged to the Panthers in the end.
Jordan Crawford got the team going at 2:26 of the first period from
Nick Scott for a 1-0 lead. Chris Heath made it 2-0 less than four minutes later from
Zach Schwandt. Michigan cut the lead in half 27 seconds later but Scott responded from Crawford and
Hunter Ellens for another two-goal cushion.
The Wolverines scored the next two goals to even the game at 3-3 in the second period. Schwandt got his team in the lead again at 4-3 at the 15:22 mark from
Isaac Lippert and
Austin Bliznik. After Michigan once again tied the game in the third period, Scott sent his team home with a win as he scored at 9:41 of the third from
Jacob Blok. DU goaltender
Andrew Habasevich stone-walled the Wolverines for the rest of the game resulting in the narrow victory.
