GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Panthers hosted Calumet College of St. Joseph Thursday night in a dual with the Crimson Wave. DU dominated the match from start to finish as they saw both
Brant Schafer and
Glenn Geurink win by fall on their way to a 53-0 victory.
The Panthers started off their match with a pair of wins by major decision starting with
Kahle Scheenks at the 133-pound weight class. Scheenks would topple Louis Escobedo-Rivera of CCSJ by a 12-4 final score.
Alec Ward then followed for the Panthers with a commanding 15-1 victory over Tony Vasquez at the 141-pound weight class.
Schafer then stepped onto the mat for DU and just 35 seconds into his match he earned the victory by fall over Jake Stewart.
Austin Vannatter would keep the Panthers rolling as a 7-2 win by decision at the 165-pound weight class kept the Crimson Wave scoreless. Geurink then capped the dominant performance by DU with a win over Scott Pitrowski of Calumet (Fall 2:39) and DU earned the 53-0 victory.
The Panthers would see wins by forfeit at the 125, 157, 174, 184 and 197 pound weight classes. The Panthers will see action again on January 8 at the Central College Duals.
