No. 23 Softball Opens 2015 Season with a Dozen Games in Florida

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After Mother Nature forced the No. 23 Davenport softball team to put its season-opener in Tennessee and Kentucky on hold last weekend, the Panthers will now open their 2015 campaign in Florida with 12 games during spring break, starting Sunday with matchups against NCAA Division III Hanover at 9 a.m. followed by Lyndon State at 11 a.m., held at the NTC Softball Complex in Clermont.

Fans can catch all Davenport games on the Davenport Athletics Network.

Second-year head coach McCall Salmon changed the plans to her team's schedule in the Sunshine State this season. While the Panthers will make their traditional visit to the NTC Softball Complex for six games, she has set up a tour that will feature trips to Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, Southeastern in Lakeland and Webber International in Babson Park.

The Panthers have had great success in Central Florida, going 50-17 since the inaugural season in 2009. In fact, Davenport has never finished below .500 in program history. Last year, the then-rookie coach Salmon steered the Panthers to a best 11-2 record.
