Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport D3 hockey team closed out their home schedule on Saturday night against Michigan State. Davenport had three different goal scorers in the game, but the Panthers fell to the Spartans and dropped to 0-17-0 on the season. Davenport will conclude their 2014-15 season on Sunday afternoon against Michigan State at the Munn Ice Arena.

In the first period, Michigan State came out strong as they scored three goals to start the game including a shorthanded goal. However, late in the first period, Davenport was able to get a couple scoring chances and Cameron Morris found the back of the net to with
Michael Baas and
Justice Postman grabbing the assists of the goals as the Panthers trailed 3-1 after the first period.

The Panthers came out strong the second period as
Chris Pakalnins brought the Panthers within one goal as he knocked in a loose puck just 2:23 into the second period, but the Spartans came right back to regain their two goal lead with 16:10 left in the second period. Michigan State score two more times in the second half of the period as they took a 6-2 lead into the third period.

Davenport got the scoring started in the third period just 2:49 into the period as Postman got his second point of the night. Postman tallied his goal of the period to bring the Panthers within two goals with 11:03 left in regulation. The Spartans were able to stop the Panther run with a power play goal with 4:39 left in the third as they went on to win 7-4.

The Panthers will now head into their season finale of Sunday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich., at the Munn Ice Arena with a 2 p.m. puck drop.
