GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With the temperature in Grand Rapids improving, the Davenport baseball team will be opening up the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex a week early, starting Wednesday with No. 22 Point Park (Pa.) in a doubleheader Wednesday at 2 p.m. The weekend will feature a three-game series with Viterbo (Wis.) with a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday. Both days are 1 p.m. first pitches.

A Quick Look at DavenportDavenport had an impressive performance in Florida over spring break, going 6-2 over the week. DU picked up upsets over No. 13 Southeastern and No. 11 Embry-Riddle along the way. The Panthers outscored opponents72-26 as well as out-hit their foes 94-60. The Panthers arms also allowed 20 earned runs in 65 innings of work.

A Quick Look at Point Park (Pa.)The Pioneers, under sixth-year head coach Loren Torres, are off a solid start to the young season, going 9-1 last week. Point Park closed the trip with a 5-1 win over the Panthers' crosstown rival Cornerstone. The Pioneers pitching staff has been very strong early in the year, owning a 1.29 ERA in 70 innings of work allowing 10 earned runs. Jason Kim has yet to allow a run across in 14 innings on the mound. Shane Conley is leading the team offensively with a .370 batting average.

A Quick Look at Viterbo (Wis.)The Hawks are under new management with Ted Falkner taking over the program. Viterbo (2-2) entered Tuesday playing a doubleheader with the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Wednesday. The Hawks split doubleheaders with St. Catharine and the Cumberlands. Altogether, Viterbo's bats are carrying a .197 with 17 RBI and the pitching staff owns a 7.03 ERA in 32 innings of work.
