GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Looking to stay on top of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, Davenport's still second-ranked baseball team will make a short drive to play crosstown rival Cornerstone Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Panthers will look to win bragging rights to the Beltline Rivalry as they are 6-0 against both Cornerstone and Aquinas. The game can be followed through the Golden Eagles broadcast on the Davenport Athletics Network.

A Quick Look at Davenport (36-3, 20-1 WHAC)Although the Panthers saw their program-record 24-game win streak snap in the series opener at Indiana Tech, they still took 3-of-4 to win the set and stay on top of the WHAC standings by a half game. Northwestern Ohio (20-2 WHAC) is right on the Panthers tail trailing by a half of game. Davenport has continued to hold the best batting average in the NAIA at .375 while ranking second in slugging percentage at .545. The pitching staff also remains stellar, having the third-best ERA in the nation with a 2.47.

A Quick Look at Cornerstone (16-23, 7-13 WHAC)The Golden Eagles, in the middle of an 18-game homestand, having won the last six. Their last loss was to Northwestern Ohio, which swept a four-game set with Cornerstone. Sonny Mastromatteo continues to raise his batting average as leads the team with a .352.
