GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Entering the final week of the regular-season, the Davenport baseball team will play the four remaining games on the road at Madonna Wednesday and Thursday at 2 p.m. The Panthers are currently holding on to a slim lead for first place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference over Northwestern Ohio.

UNOH will finish the regular-season on the road with four games at Concordia over the weekend. Both the Panthers (27-4) and Racers (25-4) share identical number of conference losses. Madonna can put itself into the mix as it is carries a 24-6 league record but will need help.

A Quick Look at Davenport (44-6, 27-4 WHAC)The Panthers head northeast of the state after sweeping a four-game set with Siena Heights last weekend. Davenport had two different outcomes in both doubleheaders. The Panthers won Friday's matchups 12-1, 3-1 as well as Saturday's 4-3, 12-0.
Brendan Bender had four hits and RBI each in the series, including a double and a two-run homer in game one. The senior also threw five innings in the same game to earn his sixth win of the season. The Panthers rank third in the NAIA in batting average (.361) and fourth in ERA (2.57).

A Quick Look at Madonna (34-13, 24-6 WHAC)The Crusaders rode on an impressive 11-game win streak until it was snapped by Northwestern Ohio last weekend as the Racers snagged the second doubleheader 9-1, 3-0 Saturday. Veteran right-hander Evan Piechota has thrown more innings (71.1) than anyone in the WHAC. His 68 strikeouts is only second behind teammate's Adam Prashad's 69. The Crusaders also has the best defensive percentage in the WHAC, owning a .967 percentage with only 53 errors committed.
