Panthers Improve Defensively Despite 4-2 Loss to Hope College

Davenport increased their defensive efforts during their loss to Hope College

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport improves their defensive efforts despite the 4-2 loss to Hope College. The Panthers competed from start to finish during this match, but a stretch of three un-answered goals by the Flying Dutchmen proved too much to overcome for Davenport. Both Nick Allen and Justin Crawford would score during the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Panthers would be on their heels for most of the first period, as the Flying Dutchmen had two power play opportunities. Hope College would capitalize on the opportunities by scoring a goal in the sixth minute of the game.
-Allen provided a spark in the second period as he scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1. The Flying Dutchmen would respond with a goal of their own roughly two minutes later.
-The Panthers lost momentum during the third period as Hope would increase their lead to 4-1 at one point. Crawford gave a glimmer of hope for the Panthers to feed off of late in the period on a goal assisted by both Parker Schmitt and Bailey Rietman. The Flying Dutchmen would hold off Davenport's late efforts in the third period.
-Allen and Crawford each notched a goal apiece.
-Schmidt and Rietman both tallied the only assists.
-Jacob Mofield spent the entire game in net, and saved an impressive 39 of 43 shots sent his way.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers get the week to prepare for their next matchup as they are slated to play again until next Friday the 14th. Davenport will travel to Northwood University for an 8:05 p.m. start time.
