WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Davenport men's volleyball team took a leap forward as a new program by winning the MIVA Division II Championship at Purdue University on Sunday. The Panthers won two of their three matches in pool play and then picked up wins over Calvin (22-25, 25-21, 15-13) and Baldwin-Wallace (25-17, 25-21) on Sunday for the title.
Nathan Vander Meer was named First Team All-Conference and had a stellar championship with 89 kills and a .379 attack percentage. He also compiled 16 digs and six blocks. Chris Croft totaled 105 assists and 24 digs in 12 sets played for the weekend.
Jason Mais collected 29 kills and 22 digs during the tournament.
