Panther Men Finish Seventh at Bowling Sectionals

ADDISON, Ill. - The Davenport men's bowling team had a strong showing at the ITC Sectionals this weekend finishing seventh out of 23 teams. The team format was four sectionals across the country and four 16-baker game blocks meaning a great deal of bowling took place over the last two days. The Panthers saw themselves gradually climb the standings and make a run towards finishing in the top four and qualifying for the ITC Nationals.

DU rolled a 2,927 in the first block and were in 12th place after 16 baker games. They bowled a 224 in the first game and a high of 241 in the 15th game. Davenport climbed up to ninth after the end of day one with 3,163 pins in the second block for a total of 6,090. DU had seven 200-plus baker games in the second block.

The team continued to climb up to sixth in the third block as they started day two with four straight games in the 200's including a 244 in the first game. The high of 253 came in game 41. Robert Morris (Ill.) wrapped up the first place finish after the fourth block with 13,183 pins. Morehead State, Wisconsin-Whitewater and William Penn were also the top four schools in the sectional. Davenport would ultimately finish seventh and started slow in the final block not reaching the 200's in the first four games. They actually only had one 200 games in the final 16 which was a 221 in game 53.
