Panthers perform well in pair of AHBA games

CANTON, Mich. - The Davenport University bowling teams began a series of American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) games this past weekend.

The women's team took the titles for AHBA 1 and 2 with scores of 7,025 and 6,840, respectively. Karine Bouchard claimed first place in the women's varsity individual standings following the AHBA 2 with an average score of 214.25 through four games. Kadence Botrall (18th), Carly Snyder (21st), and Kasey Eaton (22nd) also finished in the top 25 with average scores of 187.5, 185 and 184, respectively. Omani Morales sneaked into the top 40 (36th place) with a 172.75 average.

The men's team finished the AHBA 1 in seventh place with a score of 7,083 and rounded out the weekend with a tie for fourth place in the AHBA 2 with a score of 7,399. Individually, the varsity team saw Ryan Oyama and Nicholas Luther finish seventh and eighth with average scores of 227 and 225.25, respectively. Lucas Buck rounded out the top 20 (16th place) with an average of 217.75.

The men's junior varsity team placed third out of 12 teams in the AHBA 1 and 2, with final scores of 6,848 and 6,801. Following the AHBA 2, Charlie Johnson claimed third in the individual standings with a 216 average, with Michael Willshire taking 19th with a 186.25 average. Aspen Pietrzykowski (21st, 184.75), Colton Hicswa (23rd, 178.25), and Devyn Pitts (26th, 176.5) rounded out the top 30 JV bowlers.

DU will take the week off to prepare for the AHBA 3 on Saturday, Nov. 4, in Columbus, Ohio.
