HOW IT HAPPENED

-The men's Division III hockey team avenged a pair of regular season losses to Indiana Tech with a 7-4 win in the first game of the MCHC West Playoffs.

-The Panthers took a 2-1 lead after the first period. Brandon Bihn and Charlie Bonser scored in the opening period for Davenport.

-Both teams scored twice in the second period as Bonser and Bihn both added another goal. Ryan Morse assisted on three of the first four goals by the Panthers.

-The Panthers put the Warriors away with three goals in the third period. Bihn completed his hat trick at 9:08 of the period and then Travis Bouwkamp and Carter Janssen finished the scoring.

-DU kept themselves out of the penalty box for the most part with just 10 penalty minutes.

-Davenport will face Michigan State in the next round of the MCHC Vezina Cup Playoffs on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Eagles Ice Center in Grand Rapids beginning at 1:30 p.m.
