NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Panthers took a handful of student-athletes to compete in one final meet following the completion of the GLIAC Championships last weekend. Davenport traveled to North Central College with
Obi Iwuagwu,
Brandon MacGregor,
Jakara Edwards-House,
Chieme Udaku,
Paige Gould,
Emma Schafer,
Betsy Lovett, and
Kaylyn Perry. The eight participated in their strongest events to see where they line up in the national ranks.
For the men Iwuagwu competed in the triple jump. Iwuagwu took sixth in the meet with a mark of 13.85m on his final attempt. Next, MacGregor placed second in the hammer throw. He threw 53.68m on his third attempt of the event.
On the women's side both Edwards-House and Udaku ran the 100m dash. Edwards-House finished with a time of 12.75 seconds, finishing 13
th in the event. Udaku ran the event in 13.06 second, taking 20
th in the event. In the 400m dash Gould finished in 12
th, running one full lap in 59.65 seconds. Schafer competed in the high jump and javelin throw. In the high jump she passed the height of 1.56m, placing her 14
th. In the javelin throw she threw 30.14m on her final attempt, finishing 12
th. Lovett competed in pole vault and took eighth place. She passed the height of 3.55m on her final attempt. Udaku also competed in the triple jump, taking 20
th with a mark of 10.38m, which she got on her first attempt.
Perry absolutely showed out at this meet. She competed in the hammer throw and took third place out of the 36 athletes that participated. Perry threw 53.45m on her fourth attempt and threw over 52m on four of her attempts. Her toss of 53.45m hit the NCAA Division II provisional standard, which sits at 51.53m.
