The men's ACHA Division III hockey club had a tall task to begin the 2021-22 season with a pair of games against a talented Central Michigan squad. The Chippewas prevailed 10-1 on Friday in Mt. Pleasant and followed that up with a 5-0 win in Grand Rapids on Saturday.
Elijah Klco wound up scoring the team's goal on Friday which came at 7:10 of the third period and was assisted by
Kevin Crawley. The Panthers went to the penalty box six times and had a total of 22 penalty minutes. CMU on the flip side served 12 penalty minutes.
On Saturday, it was a much better result for the Panthers even though they were still on the losing end of the score. The Chippewas used the second period to their advantage scoring three times. All five goals in the contest were scored at 5-on-5. Both teams finished 0-for-2 on the power play.
Shaid Shearer finished with 35 saves in net for the Panthers.
