The Davenport University softball team will be in Evansville, Ind. this weekend to compete in the Midwest Region Crossover, which is being hosted by Southern Indiana. Entering with a 2-2 record on the young 2021 season, the Panthers will face Kentucky Wesleyan and Lake Erie on Friday before going up against Trevecca Nazarene and Kentucky Wesleyan for a second time on Saturday. Davenport is 3-3 in the all-time series with Kentucky Wesleyan and 3-0 against Lake Erie, but 0-4 vs. Trevecca Nazarene. As far as how those three opponents have fared this season, Kentucky Wesleyan is 1-5, Lake Erie is 1-3 and Trevecca Nazarene is 4-6.
Individually, the Panthers have been paced at the plate by
Lindsay Goodman (.538 batting average),
Rachel Griffin (.400) and
Rylie Kalina (.308). Goodman has seven hits in her 13 at-bats while Griffin is 4-for-10 to star the year and Kalina is 4-for-13. In the circle, the pitching staff continues to be led by
Ellie Muilenburg and her 1.50 ERA in 14 innings pitched. Muilenburg dazzled in the season-opening win over Ohio Dominican when she pitched all eight innings with 12 strikeouts and only three walks allowed.
