Panthers Fall to Michigan on Friday night

CANTON, Mich. – After a week off, the D3 Hockey team went over to the eastside of the state for the first time this season. Their opponents were MCHC foe University of Michigan, a team the Panthers have not faced since the 2015-16 season.
 
The Wolverines offense has be impressive all season, and it showed again on Friday night, as they took game one of the weekend set.

The Wolverines came out buzzing in the early stages of the contest, as Danny Colon scored his eighth goal of the season just a couple minutes in. Just over 30 seconds later, Logan Gare made it 2-0 Michigan. That was followed up by a goal from Jack Connelly, and less than six minutes into the contest, the Wolverines were up by three.
 
DU did get on the board late in the period, as Chance Bradley and John Lizyness set up Brendan Schievink for his second goal of the season.
 
Michigan continued to pour it on, however, in period two. Griffin Warden scored back-to-back goals, before Greg Pine scored in the final minute of the frame to give Michigan a five-goal lead heading into the third period.
 
In the third period, Colon added two more goals for the Wolverines, with Gare adding his second of the game, and Michigan won the first game of the weekend by a final score of 9-1.
 
WHO'S NEXT?
 
The two teams meet again Saturday afternoon, this time at Patterson.
 
Puck drop is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
