IWLCA Top 25 Poll
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - For the first time in school history, the Davenport women's lacrosse program is ranked inside the NCAA's top 25. Monday afternoon, the Panthers checked in at No. 25 according to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's (IWLCA) Division II Coaches Poll with 31 points. This comes after the Panthers reached the 10-win mark for the seventh time in program history and first time since 2017.
"This achievement is all because of our seniors," said head coach,
Rob Harris. "They came to DU believing in my vision for Davenport that before they leave, we're going to be known in Division II. Through many hard games and defeats, they kept showing up every day for practice believing in where we were headed. This is just the next step in our journey and we aren't done yet!"
Grand Valley State (10-2, 7-0 GLIAC), Davenport's opponent on Tuesday in the 6 p.m. regular season finale, dropped four spots to No. 12. If Davenport wins that regular season finale by more than three goals, it will be the top seed and host a GLIAC Tournament semifinal matchup with fourth-seeded Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, May 7. If Davenport wins by two goals, there will be a coin toss to decide hosting duties. Lastly, if Davenport wins by just one goal or loses the game, it will be the two seed and face third-seeded Northern Michigan on May 7. The finals will then be played on Sunday, May 9.
