COACH GRAHAM COMMENTS
Overall I am proud of the guys performance. We went 6-3 in the groups stage and were able to bypass the Round of 20 playoffs due to having the fourth seed in our group. The teams we lost to in groups were teams we were even completely even with and we beat ourselves, or they were just more mechanically skilled than us and we were expected to lose to them. Those teams were Kettering University, NC State, and University of Alabama - Huntsville.
In the playoffs we were seeded eighth overall and competed against University of Illinois - Chicago. The match went to map 3 (Oregon) where we ended up losing 7-3. UIC was the ninth seed so it was expected that this matchup would go the distance. Credit to UIC and their talented team. At the end of the day, I believe we beat ourselves. We had some costly mistakes in how we positioned and played specific situations.Â
The event was beneficial to myself and to the team and we left with new connections and future scrimmage partners. We are excited to attend again next year, assuming they offer another opportunity. Now we go back to the lab and prepare for our first round playoff match in Collegiate R6 against Bradley University.Â
