Spring Thing Recap

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams made the very short trip down the Broadmoor Ave. corridor on Thursday to take part in the Calvin University Spring Thing at Zuidema Field.

Among the highlights included a first-place finish in the 100 meters by Brendan LaLonde in a time of 11.31. Collin Graham took part in the 800 meters and finished eighth in a time of 2:03.20. Drew Sharrar competed in the 1,500 meters and finished seventh with a time of 4:18.32, just one second of his personal best.

Corbin DeJonge was able to take second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.06. Cody Brandenburg took seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 38' 8.75".

Julia Tuuri had a personal best in the 100 meters with a time of 13.01 and finished fourth. Riley Kinnee placed ninth in the 400 meters as the team's top finisher with a time of 1:05.61. Molly Dailey was a ninth-place finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 2:46.50. The 1,500 meters was a 1-2-3 finish for the Panthers. Scout Nelson was first in 4:50.58 followed by Ella Baryo (4:51.64) and Erin Dorn (5:00.01). 

Sidney Heugel was able to place second in the pole vault and hit an NCAA provisional mark at 12' 7.5". Tessa Blankenship placed third and Deidre Lorton was fourth in the triple jump. Blankenship had a jump of 32' 11" and Lorton had a jump of 31' 6.5". Both of them set a new personal best in the event. Allison Ryder placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 120' 1". Sam Fritz was a fifth-place finisher in the javelin at 81' 6" to set a personal best.
