GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The 2022 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Alexis Koza, a senior catcher from Wyoming, Mich. (Wyoming HS), has been selected as one of 12 student-athletes in District 4 (NCAA Division II) to receive this honor. Koza was one of five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honorees.
Koza is a nursing major at Davenport and all nominees needed to possess a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 and also combine their athletic prowess to be nominated. DU's first player to be named First Team All-GLIAC three times, Koza got the job done with both the bat and glove as she was second in the GLIAC in RBI (47) while not making a single error in 272 chances behind the plate.
League wise, the veteran backstop was also second in runners caught stealing (8), third in home runs (9), fifth in slugging percentage (.630), sixth in doubles (10), sixth in total bases (85), seventh in defensive chances, eighth in putouts (252), eighth in batting average (.356), and 10th in on-base percentage (.425).
For a career, Koza is first in program history for runners caught (39), third in lowest stolen base percentage against (.678), third in chances (1,145), third in putouts (1,041), fourth in games played (206), fourth in at-bats (601), fifth in games started (196), sixth in doubles (38), sixth in RBI (122), sixth in fielding percentage (.987), eighth in hits (180), and eighth in total bases (272).
