LEMONT, Ill. - The Davenport women's golf team concluded the Lewis Flyer Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. DU finished third in a field of nine schools with a two-day total of 644. They were just three strokes behind second-place Rockhurst and McKendree won the event with a total of 633. The Panthers were in second place after round one with a 320 which was seven strokes behind McKendree. Rockhurst surged ahead of the Panthers in the final round with a 317, which was the lowest of all teams on Tuesday.
AJ Powell of Parkside and Chiara Bortollotti of McKendree shared medalist honors with a nine-over par 153. For Davenport,
Lauren Gervais continued her steady play as a sophomore with a fifth-place finish of 155, just two strokes behind the medalists. Gervais shot 11-over par with rounds of 80 and 75. After one birdie in the first round, Gervais carded four birdies in the final round. She birdied two par-4's, one par-5, and one par-3.
Hannah Meloche was the second best finisher for the Panthers with a total of 161. She had a team best 78 in the first round and shot 83 on Tuesday.
Melissa Walker checked in at a tie for 14th with a score of 163. She shot 82-81Â for the tournament. Freshman
Hannah Robinson had one of her best tournaments so far with an 18th-place finish. She shot 80-85Â and was in the top 10 after the first round. She played brilliantly on the back nine in round one with a bogey and eight straight pars for a 37. Freshman
ThaiLee Gerding finished in a tie for 25th with scores of 83 and 85 for a total of 168. She even carded a birdie in the second round on the par-3, 151-yard fourth hole.
