Panthers turn in three second-place finishes at Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams braved the elements on Friday at the Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State at Ralph Young Field. The Panthers were able to secure second place in three events. Julia Tuuri and Brendan LaLonde in the sprints showcased their speed. Tuuri in the 100 meters ran a personal best time of 12.54 and in the 200 meters crossed the line in 25.47 seconds which was also a school record. LaLonde in the 100 meters hustled his way to a time of 10.80.

Mya Staczek also was able to finish sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.82. Erin Boettcher finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.37. Owen Alderink placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.93 which was a personal best. Ella Baryo ran to a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:22.75.

Noah Evers managed to finish second in the shot put (56' 6"), which was a NCAA provisional mark, and third in the discus with a personal best throw of 160' 7". Bryce Monroe was right on his heels in fourth place with a personal best distance of 146' 8". Annabelle Schafer took home fourth in the javelin with a throw of 111' 11". Bryce Albrecht placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 135' 5". Lisa Wangler finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 39' 8". Sidney Heugel and Nick Ruvalcaba each finished fifth in the pole vault. Heugel reached a height of 12' 5.5" which was a NCAA provisional mark and Ruvalcaba was registered at 15' 3.5".
