OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Davenport women's golf team concluded their fall season on Sunday at the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational hosted at The Pearl Club. The team recorded another third-place finish, their fourth in six tournaments this fall. Davenport shot 614 for the 36-hole tournament and trailed Gannon by two strokes and Maryville by five strokes for the top spot. The Panthers did have the best team score in the final round of 302.
Freshman
Venetia Chap tied her own 18-hole school record on Sunday with a three-under par 69 and finished second in the invitational. After an opening round 74 on Saturday, Chap birdied four straight holes (1-4) and shot 34 (-2) on the front nine. She then birdied two holes on the back nine and shot 35 coming into the clubhouse.
Lauren Gervais had her second top-10 finish of the fall and tied for eighth with a score of 154 (+10). She shot 79 on Saturday and was four strokes better on Sunday with a 75.
ThaiLee Gerding finished in a tie for 14th with a 157. She had two birdies in the opening round.
Hannah Robinson tied for 22nd with a two-day total of 160 (81-79).
Melissa Walker rounded out the top five golfers for Davenport with a tie for 36th place at 170 (89-81).
