GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams sent about one-third of their rosters to the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Aquinas College on Friday, Feb. 2. The Panthers gave some of their student-athletes a chance to rest before the most important meets of the indoor season.
Freshman
Rogan Melling was able to finish second in the mile with a time of 4:29.04.
Owen Alderink competed in the 60 hurdles and finished fourth with a time of 8.98.
Nick Ruvalcaba won the pole vault and set a new school record at 15' 11". He also made the national qualifying mark which moved him up to 27th in the nation.
Robert Slaughter finished third in the pole vault with a height of 13' 9.25".
Adam Jorgensen won the triple jump with a distance of 46' 11.75" and also set a school record.
James Horn won the shot put with a throw of 49' 8.5".
Alexander Hernandez was the DU top finisher in the weight throw placing fourth with a throw of 51' 7.5".Â
Erin Dorn won the 600 meters with a time of 1:34.72 which was the second best time in school history.
Sidney Heugel was second in the pole vault with a height of 11' 8.5".
Tessa Blankenship would come in third in the triple jump with a distance of 31' 5.75".
Madison Hernandez was third in the weight throw with a best toss of 45' 3.75".
