Panthers drop 78-38 decision versus No. 4 Grand Valley State

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team dropped a 78-38 decision on Saturday afternoon versus No. 4 Grand Valley State in GLIAC action. This game started the second round of league play as the Panthers play each team in the conference both home and away for a total of 18 GLIAC games. The Lakers swept the season series from Davenport and never trailed in the contest. GVSU led 20-11 after the first quarter shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) from the floor including 4-of-10 behind the arc. In the second quarter, the Panthers went six minutes without a point and in the process found themselves down 37-17 at halftime.

Davenport shot 35.7 percent (5-of-14) in the third quarter and then was 30.8 percent in the fourth quarter going 4-of-13. The biggest stat line proved to be turnovers. DU committed their third most of the season with 25 and the Lakers coughed it up 14 times. GVSU held a 25-8 edge in points off turnovers for the contest. The Laker bench was also a factor with 46 points compared to 18 by the Panthers.

The Lakers finished 50 percent from the floor for the game going 31-of-62. It was just the fourth time this season that DU has allowed an opponent to shoot 50 percent or better. Megan Crow and Rylie Bisballe led the Lakers with 11 points. Isabel Lindo led the Panthers with 12 points, marking the sixth time this season that the freshman led the team in scoring for a game. Lindo shot 5-of-12 from the floor including 2-of-7 behind the arc. Nevaeh Williams had her best overall game of the season finishing with eight points and five rebounds. Both of those totals tied a season high for Williams.
