GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Four members of the Davenport University women's basketball program earned 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, including
Anna Axtell,
Maddie Geers,
Reese Polega, and
Ellie Toney.
The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, nominees must be at least a sophomore, hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and participate in at least 90 percent of their team's contests (or meet equivalent starting criteria). The honor highlights individuals who demonstrate a strong balance of athletic performance and academic achievement.
Axtell appeared in all 28 games for Davenport, making 23 starts. She averaged 23.7 minutes per contest while scoring 8.8 points per game and shooting 30.8 percent from beyond the arc (40-for-130).
Geers was the only Panther to appear in all 28 contests, starting each game. She averaged 34.8 minutes per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and contributing 11.4 points per contest. Geers also recorded 25 blocks (second on the team) and led the Panthers with 165 rebounds.
Polega played in 26 games with seven starts, averaging 22.8 minutes per game. She led the team with 28 blocks while adding 34 steals (third on the team) and 107 total rebounds, averaging 3.6 boards per contest.
Toney appeared in and started 27 games, averaging 30.2 minutes per contest. The senior reached the 1,000-point milestone in her final collegiate game, finishing her career with 1,003 points. She averaged 12.1 points per game, totaling a team-high 326 points on the season, while shooting 36.6 percent from the field and adding 137 rebounds (5.1 per game).
With a strong sophomore core in Anna Axtell, Maddie Geers, and Reese Polega, Davenport will look to build on this season's success moving forward. The returning Panthers aim to carry that momentum into next year while continuing to elevate the program, honoring the impact and legacy left behind by Toney and the senior class.
