Panthers wrangle Broncos in weekend sweep

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In a pair of matches against the Broncos, the Davenport University D3 men's hockey club swept Western Michigan over the weekend for their second and third wins of the season (3-16-1).

The Panthers outscored WMU 17-9 between the matches, winning the first at home, 8-4, and following it up with a 9-5 victory in Kalamazoo.

Alex Brown led the charge on Feb. 2 with a hattrick (three goals), followed by two goals from Carter Osborn and Jared Kifer, and a goal by Reece Robertson.

Brown capitalized on the momentum from the night previous, tallying a second-straight hattrick to lead all scorers in game two, with two goals from Alex Reitzel, and one goal apiece from Dallas Hainley, Nico Linares, Dominic Bommarito and Joe Seidel - marking Linares and Seidel's first collegiate goals.

With the wins, DU's all-time record against the Broncos improved to 10-2 overall with an active four-match winning streak.
