Box Score 2 O'FALLON, ILL. - The Davenport University softball team opened the Midwest Regional Tournament on Friday afternoon (March 1). The Panthers (5-8, 0-0 GLIAC) fell to Missouri-St. Louis 4-1 and Washburn, who is receiving votes in the NFCA national rankings, 3-1 at the O'Fallon Family Sports Park.

How it Happened
Trailing 2-0 heading into the fifth inning, the Panthers were able to put their first run of the day on the board. With the bases loaded, Brooke Bernt singled through the right side to bring home Riley Hasseld, trimming the DU deficit to one (2-1).
However, the Tritons (6-5, 0-0 GLVC) made a big double play to maintain their lead facing loaded bases with one out. 
After holding UMSL scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, Davenport registered a pair of hits in the sixth but could not reach home. Missouri-St. Louis expanded their lead in the bottom of the sixth bringing home two runs and taking a 4-1 advantage.
Despite the loss, DU recorded more hits (7) than UMSL (6).
Becca Daoust led the Panthers, batting 2-for-3 with a double. Hayley Kreiger, Savanna Disbrow, Elisse Omey, Hasseld and Bernt all finished with a hit for Davenport.
In the circle, Cecelia Bell pitched all six innings for DU, delivering four strikeouts during that span.

Result: L, 3-1
How it Happened
Kreiger scored the lone run of the game for Davenport in the first inning. After getting on base with a double, Disbrow singled to right center field on the ensuing at-bat to allow her to reach home.
The Ichabods (16-4, 0-0 MIAA) scored runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings to secure the victory. 
Daoust and Disbrow each tallied a pair of hits in the loss for Davenport, while Omey chipped in with one hit.
