Preview: Panthers Set for Home Opener on Saturday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After three weeks since its last game, the Davenport University softball team is set to resume action this Saturday (March 30) in its home opener with a doubleheader against Ferris State at 1 p.m. at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.

Becca Daoust leads the Panthers' offense in 2024, hitting .386 with 27 hits, six stolen bases and 14 runs, all of which lead the squad. The Jackson, Mich. native has also notched two doubles and six RBIs.

Hayley Kreiger, a First Team All-GLIAC selection a season ago, leads the squad in home runs (two) while adding 23 hits, four doubles and a batting average of .343. First-year player Savanna Disbrow leads the team in RBIs with 21 while batting .308 (20-for-65).

About the Bulldogs
  • Finished the 2023 season 22-33 record overall, going 11-11 in GLIAC action.
  • Return three All-GLIAC performers from a season ago; Jadyn Joseph (Second Team), Aryn Gallacher (Second Team) and Catherine O'Donohue (Honorable Mention).
  • Joseph was named the 2023 GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2023.
  • Alexis Kozlowski leads the Bulldog offense, hitting a team-high .391 (36-for-92) with 14 doubles, 31 RBIs and four home runs. 
  • O'donohue leads the squad in wins in the circle with five. The sophomore has recorded 36 strikeouts and a 1.73 ERA. 
  • As a team, FSU leads the GLIAC in total bases stolen (53) and triples (nine).
  • Picked to finish fourth in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
  • Will play Grand Valley State on Friday (March 29).
