HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Davenport men's tennis team secured their first GLIAC win of the season on Friday as they made the long trip to Michigan Tech. The Panthers won 5-2 and evened their season record at 11-11. Meanwhile, the Huskies fall to 3-13 overall and 0-3 in the GLIAC.
The Panthers earned the doubles point by way of victories at the one and two spots.
Jan Stolin and
Subash Paramasivam captured a 6-4 win at one doubles over Jack Lin and Leon Sell. The three doubles match was the first to finish and the Huskies won that 6-3. The Panthers secured the doubles point at the one spot. At the two spot, it was
Carlos Henriquez and
Simone Pacciolla winning 6-3 over Eli Pinnoo and Landon Coates.
The Huskies evened the score at 1-1 after four singles as Eli Pinnoo defeated
Marius Pion by scores of 6-3, 6-1. Paramasivam gave DU a 2-1 lead at two singles with a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 victory over Sell.
Jan Stolin also had a tough two-set match at the one spot but pulled it out winning 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 over Vitor Jordao. Henriquez claimed the clinching fourth point at three singles with a three-set win over Adam Fenjiro (6-3, 4-6, 6-3). Landon Coates got the Huskies their second point at five singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over
Jose Brenes. Pacciolla made the final score 5-2 at six singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ian Pinnoo.
