Preview: Panthers Head to Big Rapids for Rematch with Bulldogs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University softball team is set to continue GLIAC action this Saturday with a doubleheader against Ferris State at the FSU Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the second game to follow.

Earlier this season, the Panthers swept the Bulldogs in their home opening doubleheader on Saturday, March 30.

Alexis Gills is coming off an eclectic performance in which she bombed a game-winning two-run home run out of left field to take down her former school, Saginaw Valley State. The Panthers (12-18, 4-4 GLIAC) split the doubleheader with the conference-leading Cardinals on Wednesday (April 10).

Hayley Kreiger is leading the squad in batting percentage (.370), RBIs (24) and home runs (five) in her final season with Davenport.

The FSU offense is led by a pair of freshmen, Alex Kozlowski and Emma Gillard. Kozlowski leads the GLIAC in RBIs (42) and home runs (five) while ranking third in the league in batting average (.390). Gillard is the second leading hitter on the team, batting .340 (34-for-100) while ranking second in the conference in stolen bases (16).
Aryn Gallacher is the lead pitcher for the Dogs, as she has posted a 5-4 record in the circle with a 2.25 ERA and team-high 48 strikeouts.
As a team Ferris State leads the GLIAC in stolen bases (76) and triples (12).
