ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams concluded the three-day GLIAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Grand Valley State on Friday. The meet had a lot of significant highlights with five individual event winners and one major award winner. The men's team finished third with 127 points, while the women's team finished sixth with 68 points.
Solomon King was named the GLIAC Freshman Track Athlete of the Meet by way of winning the 200 meters (21.28) and setting a new personal record. He also finished third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.46 which also set a new personal record. In addition, he ran a leg on the 4x100 meter relay which finished second with a time of 41.24.
Ethan Scholten won the 100 meters in a time of 10.34 to set a new school record and move up to 18th on the NCAA Division II performance list.
Bryce Albrecht won the pole vault with a mark of 5.10 meters (16' 8.75") to break his own school record. He also moved up to ninth in the national performance list in NCAA Division II.
Julia Tuuri was victorious in the 100 meters (11.98) and set a new school record. She also broke her own school record in the 200 meters (24.78) during prelims and in the finals ran 25.17 to finish in sixth place.
Annabelle Schafer won the heptathlon with 4,585 points and is 44th on the national performance list.
Julia Ott claimed second place in the heptathlon with 4,199 points.
Erin Dorn was able to break the school record in the 800 meters (2:09.58) during the prelims and placed second in the finals with a time of 2:10.60. Nik Shilling ran a time of 1:50.83 to break the school record in the prelims and ran 1:51.56 in the finals to finish fourth. Two other school records fell during the meet as
Alivia Lamborne ran 40:34.17 to break her own record from last year. In addition, the 4x400 meter relay of
Erin Boettcher,
Soleil Moore, Dorn, and Haley Esser ran 3:51.52 to finish third.
Other podium finishes included the aforementioned 4x100 meter relay for the men with Scholten, King,
Rease Teel, and
Isaiah Reihl finishing second (41.24).
Adam Jorgensen claimed third in the triple jump (43' 11.75").
Noah Evers finished second in the shot put (62' 2.5"). Evers also finished second in the discus (171' 3").
Alexander Hernandez placed third in the hammer throw (180' 8") establishing a new personal record.
