ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams made a trip to Wolverine Country for the Michigan Wolverine Invitational on Saturday. The teams were able to size themselves up against teams such as Michigan State, Michigan, Dayton and Eastern Michigan of the Division I ranks.
Julia Tuuri was able to finish in the top 10 in both the 60 and 200 meters. She finished fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.04 and was eighth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.80. Freshman
Hanah Johnson had a strong showing in the 400 meters and placed seventh in a time of 1:06.85.
Ella Baryo set the school record in the 3,000 meters (10:06.97) and is currently 27th in Division II. She also placed ninth in the mile with a time of 5:02.55. The women's 4x400 relay was also a bright spot finishing fifth for the fourth best time in school history (3:57.25).
Soleil Moore,
Erin Boettcher,
Maria Da Cunha, and
Lacy Hess also have the 22nd best time in Division II.
Ibrahim Fall won the 200 meters with a time of 21.56 and hit the provisional NCAA time in the process. He currently has the 10th fastest time in Division II.
Brayden Green and
Adam Jorgensen saw good results in the jumps. Green was second in the long jump (21' 10.75") and Jorgensen finished fourth (21' 4.75"). Jorgensen was also second in the triple jump with a distance of 43' 4.5". The pole vault was indeed a solid event for the Panthers. Robby Slaughter placed second (14' 7.25") and
Ryan Delcour had the same height and finished third.
James Horn placed third in the shot put with a throw of 49' 8.25". The 4x400 relay finished second (3:22.25) and the team of
Marcus Nystrom,
Kaharrie Pureifoy, Jorgensen, and Fall are also 28th in Division II.
