GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The track and field teams took part in the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Aquinas College on Friday and had a great deal of success. The men's team scored 99 points in the meet and the women's team compiled 58 points.
Ethan Scholten won the 60 meters with a time of 6.95. Scholten also claimed third place in the long jump with a distance of 21' 0.5".
Mark Palmeter set a PR in the 200 meters and placed second with a time of 23.32.
Adam Jorgensen took first in the 60 hurdles (8.58) and improved his time from the prelims (8.75). He also placed second in the long jump (21' 5.25").
Nick Ruvalcaba won the pole vault with a height of 15' 3" and
Robert Slaughter claimed third with a height of 13' 9.25".
James Horn won the shot put (49' 10.5) and
Chandler Griffiths placed second (49' 0.75"). Horn also was able to finish third in the weight throw with a toss of 50' 9.5".Â
Freshman
Jakya Mack-Smith got her first event win in the 60 meters with a time of 7.95.
Kay-Lee McSwain finished third in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.49.
Tessa Blankenship finished third in the long jump with a distance of 16' 11.25" to set a new PR. She also was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 29' 11.5".
Jayla Procter was the team's top finisher in the shot put (37' 6.75") in third place.
Anna Nixon placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 44' 6.75".Â
