7th Straight Tournament Run: Panthers Face Parkside in GLIAC Quarterfinals

KENOSHA, Wis. The Davenport men's soccer team is set to make its seventh consecutive appearance in the GLIAC Tournament, traveling to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to face the Rangers of Parkside in the quarterfinals. The Panthers enter postseason play with a 7-8-4 overall record. This marks the second straight year Davenport and Parkside have met in the opening round, with DU earning a 2–0 victory on Nov. 10, 2024, to advance to the semifinals last season. The two teams met twice during the regular season, battling to a 2–2 draw on Oct. 10 and a 1–1 tie on Oct. 19.

The GLIAC Tournament features the top six teams in the conference, with Davenport earning the No. 5 seed and Parkside entering as the No. 4 seed. The top two seeds, Saginaw Valley State and Roosevelt, receive first-round byes. While the Panthers and Rangers square off on Sunday, No. 3 Northern Michigan will host No. 6 Purdue Northwest in the other quarterfinal matchup.

The tournament is played in a single-elimination format, meaning teams must win to advance. The semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 14, followed by the championship match on Nov. 16.

With Davenport and Parkside meeting for the third time this season, one team will finally break the streak of ties, as the postseason allows for overtime if needed.

Davenport Matchup
Davenport enters the postseason looking to build on last year's semifinal run and continue its streak of seven straight GLIAC Tournament appearances. The Panthers have relied on a balanced attack this season, led by true freshman midfielder Charlie Davis, who has made an immediate impact in his debut campaign. Davis leads the team in goals (5), assists (5), points (15), shots (47), and shots on goal (24).

Across the conference, Davis ranks first in assists, tied for second in shots, third in shots on goal, fourth in game-winning goals, sixth in points, and seventh in goals—making him one of only a few players to appear among the GLIAC leaders in all six major offensive categories.

Defensively, Beau Hudd has started and played in 15 matches for DU, allowing just 17 goals after facing 246 shots and recording 67 saves for a 4-7-4 record. Hudd ranks third in the GLIAC in goals-against average (1.159), third in total saves, and third in saves per game (4.47). He also sits fifth in the conference in shutouts, with three on the season.

Parkside Matchup
Senior forward Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen, a Chicago native, leads the Rangers in goals (7), points (17), shots (36), and shots on goal (15). Aguilera-Guillen ranks second in the GLIAC in goals, fourth in points, and eighth in shots, and will look to continue his strong offensive form in Sunday's matchup.

In goal, senior Daniyal Rana of Waukesha, Wisconsin, has appeared in 15 matches this season. Rana has tallied 95 saves after facing 279 shots, posting a 5-5-5 record with a 1.48 goals-against average. He currently leads the GLIAC in saves per game (6.33).

Parkside has posted an overall record of 5-5-5 while going 5-3-4 in conference.
